Easy Slow Cooker Chicken Curry…

This easy slow cooker chicken curry is so easy that even the kids can make this and that’s exactly the way I like it.

It’s such a flexible recipe – I use red lentils to bulk it out and even though this one is made with tikka seasoning, I do use other types too and love pretty much all of them other than the korma ones.

On the subject of seasonings, I know I could make my own and that’s great but I prefer this because it’s super easy and probably more cost effective than buying all the different herbs and spices that I’d need to make my own blend.

There’s a tikka spice blend mix here that I looked at before I made this to see just how easy it was and it would cost me a fair amount to buy all the things I needed – especially considering that the small amounts needed would probably mean some would go to waste as it would take me forever to use a full tub using a teaspoon at a time.  I feel like this is one of those cases where shop bought works better than homemade for us.

I did consider writing down all the specific measurements but I decided to keep it simple and write it as we make it. 😉

How to make this easy slow cooker chicken curry

This serves four if you’re serving it with rice/jacket potatoes/naan bread.

1 tin chopped tomatoes
1 tin coconut milk
1 small carton of passata
1 chopped onion
500g chicken, cubed (more or less is fine and you can easily replace this with any other meat or even veggies)
1 handful red lentils
Tikka Curry Powder to taste, I used 2 tbsp Tesco own brand Tikka
Natural yoghurt to drizzle when you serve it.

  • All you need to do here is add everything into the slow cooker and give it a good mix.
  • Set the slow cooker to low, switch on and leave for anywhere between 6 and 8 hours.
  • Enjoy
